Cassidy Chat!

gotnewsocks: ooh
too late now
i saw a crazy thing today!
i have to remember to blog aboutit!
but um
carrie and i were crossing a bridge
and a man was standing in the middle just yelling at the top of his lungs
and he had something in his hands
and carrie was like
lets get off the bridge now!
because she was remembering how like
in movies suicide bombers yell like ALLAH AKBAR! ALLAH AKBAR!
or whatever
and so we got off the bridge and just watched from a distance
and pretty soon like five guys had their arms around the yelling man
me: yes
gotnewsocks: and were helping him walk off the bridge
and they were like consoling him, we could tell
and when they got closer we saw the man's face was like
gray and he just looked so awful and clammy and dead
and we asked if everything was ok
me: oh man! :-/
gotnewsocks: and the men like got some chairs and they all sat down and someone brought tea and they like talked it over
and then they explained to us that the man felt
"suffocated. like the weight of the world was putting pressure on him."
and so we think he was about to jump!
but AH you should have seen his face!
and like
I JUST LOVE THIS COUNTRY
the man was a college student from Yemen
and these five egyptian men
strangers
stopeed everything to sit down and have tea with this guy
me: yay!!!
gotnewsocks: to help him
and the other day i watched this video on the huffington post of a man dying on a new york sidewalk and no one stopped to help him
me: ack!
gotnewsocks: yeah
but ok
i have to go to sleep
me: SLEEP.
gotnewsocks: i really have to blog about all ths soon!
me: can I post this chat to my blog?
or send it to friends?
it's very cute
completely classic
gotnewsocks: sure!
me: yay!
blog?
gotnewsocks: the part about the man?
me: yes
gotnewsocks: yeah shre
*sure
me: yay!!!!!
thanks girl
SLEEP.
gotnewsocks: GOODNIGHT!

Early Saturday Morning

It is early.

Like nearly 7am.
I got up to take the dogs out, and am now here with you, dear reader.

Jeff and Maggie are asleep beside me.
Jim is at my feet.
I love our new bed.

I love my life.
I have never been happier.
I hope you can say the same.

Spring has come to New England.
We have been here fourteen years.
Married fifteen years.

I miss Kermit and Rudy.
They seem so long ago.
I miss my Dad.

I am learning so much these days.
Every day is a new adventure.
I hope you can say the same.

MaMa...

Okay Hi!

I came to the blog looking for photos. Didn't find the one I was looking for. (Matt on Sweet Thunder.) Did see all the writing I have, to date, posted. Was reminded of the specific request my own dear Mother made to me that I write again. Did decide to try harder and come aboard. Am here now.

Married 15 years this year. Want to throw ourselves a big party. You're invited!

Turning 40 this year. Want to throw myself a big party. You're invited!

Lots of travel on the docket this summer. Sort of stressful to contemplate sorting it all out. Also "plans" for the children and their summer adventures. Ack.

We have a new bed! It is a Tempurpedic bed, California King in size. We love it.

My nieces are doing quite well, thank you! Brooke is a new mom to baby Grayson! I need more pictures of this child. (hint.) Cassidy is really happy and satisfied over in Egypt; we really enjoy our visits together. Thank goodness for Skype. She owes me a Flip video or two. (hint.)

Life is very good right now. The quality index is high. I will now go and enjoy this good life of mine.

I hope to be back more often.

Good Night!

Cairo on Flickr

this is another good one, just searched for 'cairo' on flickr:

khan el-khalili bazaar

I had a great talk with Cassidy yesterday. She went to this amazing marketplace in Cairo called the khan el-khalili bazaar and bought a guitar of some kind and an egyptian drum! These are not her pictures, but a slideshow of what search results returned at flickr for "khan el-khalili bazaar."
